When running SAS^® Scalable Performance Data Server^® on AIX 6.1, you might experience significant performance degradation if you create indexes asynchronously. On AIX 5.3, the same indexes are created more quickly.

There are two workarounds for this problem:

1. Create serial indexes.
   Creation time for serial indexes on AIX 6.1 is similar to creation time for parallel indexes on AIX 5.3.
2. Limit the number of indexes created asynchronously.
   Do not create more than two or three indexes at a time.
