Problem Note 44863: Parallel index creation with SAS® Scalable Performance Data Server® on AIX 6.1 causes performance degradation
When running SAS®
Scalable Performance Data Server®
on AIX 6.1, you might experience significant performance degradation if you create indexes asynchronously.
On AIX 5.3, the same indexes are created more quickly.
There are two workarounds for this problem:
- Create serial indexes.
Creation time for serial indexes on AIX 6.1 is similar to
creation time for parallel
indexes on AIX 5.3.
- Limit the number of indexes created asynchronously.
Do not create more than two or three indexes at a time.
