Problem Note 44715: Performance enhancement enables the underlying data source to calculate TOPCOUNT and BOTTOMCOUNT for an OLAP query

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

The TOPCOUNT and BOTTOMCOUNT MDX functions currently fetch and order all tuples of the source set even if only a small number of tuples will be returned to the final result set.

For example, if a set contains 500,000 tuples but only the top 5 are requested, then the processing of the other 499,995 tuples is unnecessary.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

Once the performance enhancement is in place, when a ROLAP query contains simple stored measures, the SAS® OLAP Server will pass the TOPCOUNT and BOTTOMCOUNT query down to the underlying data source to more efficiently return the final rows in the correct order.
