Problem Note 44665: SAS® Digital Marketing does not render dynamic broadcast content correctly when the underlying field contains HTML scripting

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAS Digital Marketing does not render the contents of dynamic broadcast variables correctly in its e-mails when the underlying fields contain HTML scripting.

For example, if the dynamic broadcast variable contains "<b>HTML Content</b>" then it is rendered as "<b>HTML Content</b>" in the e-mail rather than "HTML Content."

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

Dynamic broadcast variables enable you to customize the rendering of data that is retrieved from underlying database fields. It also enables you to retrieve all of the content for your broadcast e-mail from a database. However, this second approach has some major drawbacks:

  1. If you retrieve the complete e-mail HTML content from the database, you lose functionality that is available through SAS Digital Marketing such as tracked links, opt outs, and personalization.
  2. The automatic updating of contact history and responses might be compromised.
  3. Storing the HTML content for each e-mail in a database places a significant load on the database.

With these functionality constraints in mind, SAS does not support rendering e-mail content of more than 1000 characters of HTML from a database field. If you encounter problems with this approach that we cannot readily replicate, then we require that you provide replication examples with fewer than 1000 characters.
