If you change the encryption in SAS/SECURE from SASProprietary to AES, SAS for Performance Management solutions do not work. This includes SAS^® Financial Management, SAS^® Human Capital Management, and SAS^® Strategy Management.

The following error is written to the SASServer3.log file:

Unable to open a connection to the
SAS Metadata Server on "XXX.XXX.com:8561".
com.sas.metadata.remote.MdException: None of the requested encryption algorithms
are supported by both peers: AES.

To overcome this error, move sas.rutil.jar and sas.rutil.nls.jar in the SAS^® Solutions Services EAR file from the WAR level to the EAR level. In addition, add a CLASSPATH change as explained below.

You can edit the JAR and manifest files in 7-zip (with Notepad++ set as the internal editor) without extracting the EAR file. Be sure to back up the existing files before you proceed.

1. Navigate to \Config\Lev1\Web\Staging and open the sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear file in 7-zip (and only 7-zip).
2. Navigate to the sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear\sas.solutionscommonapp.war\WEB-INF\lib\ directory in the ZIP file. Move the sas.rutil.jar and sas.rutil.nls.jar files from the sas.solutionscommonapp.war in 7-zip to a temporary location, such as c:\temp.
3. Delete the sas.rutil.jar and sas.rutil.nls.jar files from sas.solutionscommonapp.war. Navigate back to the sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear directory in 7-zip and click OK to update the archive with the new WAR structure.
4. Copy sas.rutil.jar and sas.rutil.nls.jar files (from Step 2 above) to the root level under sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear, sas.solutionsodcs5.2.ear, sas.financialmanagement5.2.ear, and sas.financialmanagementwde5.2.ear and save.
5. To add these two JAR files to the CLASSPATH in the sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear\META-INF\MANIFEST.MF file in the sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear and sas.solutions.security.server.jar. Open the MANIFEST file in 7-zip and edit it with a text editor, such as Notepad++. Be aware that editing in Notepad or WordPad might corrupt the file .

An example MANIFEST.MF file is attached, but edit your copy to ensure version integrity. Apply only the changes that are highlighted in bold below:

6. Save and update sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear.
7. Perform the same change as you did in Step 5 in sas.solutions.finance.server.jar under the sas.financialmanagement5.2.ear. For example, update the MANIFEST.MF file under sas.solutions.finance.server.jar, add two JAR files to it, and save changes to sas.financialmanagement5.2.ear.

When you complete the steps above, redeploy the sas.solutionsservices5.2.ear and sas.financialmanagement5.2.ear. Refer to Redeploying SAS Web Applications for instructions on redeployment.

8. For WebSphere: Make sure that the SASServer3 and SASServer4 classloaders are set to Multiple (instead of Single) and Parent/Last.
9. Restart SASServer3 and SASServer4 after you make the changes.
