Usage Note 44138: A “Shell escape is not valid in this SAS session” error occurs when using the Text Import node if Post-Installation steps are omitted
If you use the SAS® Text Miner Text Import node to crawl Web sites and retrieve files from the Web, then the following error might occur:
ERROR: Shell escape is not valid in this SAS session.
The problem occurs if you did not complete the Post-Installation steps. The steps are needed to allow the %tmfilter macro to run on the Microsoft Windows operating system.
See your Instructions.html file section that is labeled "SAS Text Miner Client" for the complete post-installation steps. Your Instructions.html file is found in this location:
C:\SAS\[Config Dir]\Lev1\Documents
If you are using SAS® Enterprise Miner™ and SAS Text Miner Workstation on your Windows PC, then these steps are not required. (If you are using SAS Enterprise Miner and SAS Text Miner Workstation, you can select Start ► All Programs ► SAS ► SAS Enterprise Miner Workstation 7.1).
See also SAS Note 43626, "A 'Shell escape is not valid in this SAS session' error occurs when using the Text Import node".
