ERROR: ORACLE connection error: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.

Oracle 11g has introduced a new concept of a virtual field, which is essentially a view of a field. Technically, the field is not physically stored in the data, but you can query it.

Oracle documentation about this error is as follows:

ORA-54013: INSERT operation disallowed on virtual columns 
Cause: Attempted to insert values into a virtual column  
Action: Reissue the statment without providing values for a virtual column 

To avoid the error and append/insert into the Oracle table, use the DROP= data set option on the virtual column name. Here is an example:
