Problem Note 44031: The SAS® 9.3 default file type associations for SAS data set and SAS data view files might be incorrect
The default SAS file type associations for SAS data sets (.sas7bdat) and SAS data views (.sas7bvew) might be incorrect for SAS 9.3 on Microsoft Windows operating systems.
If you double-click a file with a .sas7bdat or .sas7bvew file extension from Windows Explorer, SAS might attempt to print the file or generate an HTML view of the file. If the file is large, SAS might seem unresponsive during processing of the large file.
Also, if you right-click a file with a .sas7bdat or .sas7bvew file extension from Windows Explorer, you might see &Print showing as the default action on the Context Menu. This is not correct.
To resolve the issue, use the following steps to remove the specified keys from the Windows registry.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- Type regedit and click OK.
Note: For Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 operating systems, click Start, type regedit in the search box, and press ENTER.
-
Right-click the following registry keys and select Delete from the menu.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SAS.DataSet.701\shell\&Print
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SAS.DataSetView.701\shell\&Print
Warning: Always back up your registry before you make any registry changes. Changes in the Windows registry can render your system unusable and will require that you reinstall the operating system. For assistance,
see Windows Help, Microsoft documentation, or the Microsoft Windows Web site. SAS is not responsible when you edit the Windows registry.
