With SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1, HTML output is created by default by adding extra ODS HTML statements before and after any SAS code that you or SAS Enterprise Guide creates. With SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 and 4.3, SAS Report output is created by default.
To enable or disable the ODS destinations that SAS Enterprise Guide uses, select Tools ► Options. On the left side under Results, select Results General. On the right side under Result Formats, you can select or deselect the following output formats:
SAS Report HTML PDF RTF Text Output
In most situations, when you have a format selected such as SAS Report, HTML, PDF, or RTF, and are creating graphics output with SAS Enterprise Guide, you should not select the Text Output format as well. You might run into problems creating graphics output when the Text Output format is selected in addition to another output format.
Let us assume that you are submitting SAS/GRAPH code via SAS Enterprise Guide and that your code does not include any ODS statements. If you want the graph output to display in the Results viewer window, you must select at least one of the following formats:
SAS Report HTML PDF RTF
To change the default SAS/GRAPH device driver that SAS Enterprise Guide uses, select Tools ► Options. On the left side under Results, select Graph. On the right side, change the value for Graph Format.
With SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1, you can select the device driver from the following Graph Format values:
ActiveX Java GIF JPEG ActiveX image (SAS V9) Java image (SAS V9) SAS EMF (SAS V9)
With SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 and 4.3, the PNG device driver is available in addition to the device drivers listed above.
Let us assume that you are submitting your own code via SAS Enterprise Guide and you have already included ODS statements in your code. In this case, the most common problem that you might run into is a conflict between the ODS statements that you include in your code and the ODS statements that SAS Enterprise Guide adds to your code. The extra ODS statements that SAS Enterprise Guide adds to your code can produce errors in the SAS Log or generate unexpected results. This might include duplicate graphs being created or graphics output being written to the wrong location.
There are two ways to circumvent this problem:
ods _all_ close;
This statement closes all of the ODS destinations that SAS Enterprise Guide opens by default, giving the ODS statements in your code complete control of the output. If your SAS/GRAPH code does not include any ODS statements and you do not want to use ODS when submitting your code via SAS Enterprise Guide, add the following two statements to the beginning of your code:
ods _all_ close; ods listing;
