Usage Note 43505: Large HTML files generated by SAS® might cause Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 7 to terminate abnormally
In certain situations, SAS® and SAS/GRAPH® can create fairly large HTML files. When viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 7 (IE 7), these large HTML files can cause the browser to terminate abnormally. When this problem occurs, blank browser windows can display and the browser might appear to stop responding. In some cases, the problem might also temporarily cause your Windows desktop to malfunction.
The problem typically occurs with HTML files that are larger than one megabyte in size. In some cases, the problem occurs when displaying several of these large HTML files in separate tabs with IE 7.
This problem does not occur with Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 8. The recommended circumvention is to upgrade your Microsoft Internet Explorer from Version 7 to Version 8.
SAS typically creates large HTML files when creating complex HTML output that contains numerous image maps, which provide data tips. The only way to circumvent this problem from the SAS side is to modify your SAS code to create fewer and simpler data tips, thereby creating smaller HTML files.
