When you use the SFTP access method in a FILENAME statement, SAS supports only SFTP software in UNIX operating environments; that is, on OpenSSH servers. There are FTP software applications that support FTP and Secure Shell/Secure File Transfer Protocol (SSH/SFTP), but the SAS FTP access method supports only UNIX based OpenSSH SSHD servers.

If you attempt to connect to an SSH/SFTP server using the SFTP access method in a FILENAME statement, notes and errors similar to the following might occur:
