The SAS OlapViewer Add-in 4.3 for Microsoft Office might not be selected in the Com Add-Ins dialog box in Microsoft Excel. A run-time error also occurs under Load Behavior as shown in this display:

If you are using the SAS Add-in 4.3 for Microsoft Office in Microsoft Outlook, a secondary symptom might occur in which SAS^® menus, such as SAS Central, do not appear in Outlook. Note that your site might not use the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office in Outlook. In addition, if you run the SwitcherUtility.exe file, Outlook is not selected. If you select Outlook and run the SwitcherUtility.exe file again, Outlook remains deselected.

Some less likely, but possible symptoms are shown in the following displays, which respectively represent an error when you invoke Excel or Outlook.

To correct the errors, copy the files as directed below to the C:\windows-directory\assembly directory where windows-directory might be C:\WINNT or C:\WINDOWS. So the resulting directory could be C:\WINNT\assembly or C:\WINDOWS\assembly.

1. Browse to the installation directory for the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office.

   Here is the SAS 9.2 software path for the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office:

   

2. Once you are at the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office installation path, browse to the Office12Interops directory.
3. From the Office12Interops directory copy the following files to the C:\windir\assembly directory.
   • Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll
   • Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.dll
   • office.dll
4. It is necessary to select the SAS OlapViewer Add-in 4.3 for Microsoft Office in the Com Add-Ins dialog box. If you are using SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office in Outlook, it is necessary to run the SwitcherUtility.exe file to select Outlook. The following sections provide instructions for accessing the Com Add-Ins and running SwitcherUtility.exe. Note that if your site does not use the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office in Outlook, you can omit running the SwitcherUtility.exe step.

Accessing the Com Add-Ins

For Microsoft Excel 2007:

1. Click Office and then select Excel Options.
2. In the Excel Options dialog box, select Add-Ins.
3. Ensure that COM Add-Ins is selected in the Manage list and click Go.
4. Select SAS OlapViewer Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office and then click OK.

For Microsoft Excel 2010:

1. Select File ► Options from the menu.
2. In the Excel Options dialog box, select Add-Ins.
3. Ensure that COM Add-Ins is selected in the Manage list and click Go.
4. Select SAS OlapViewer Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office then click OK.

Running SwitcherUtility.exe

1. Browse to the installation directory of the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office.
2. Double-click SwitcherUtility.exe.
3. Make the appropriate selections.

These problems are planned to be corrected in a future release of SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office.
