Problem Note 43262: Queries that reference tables in libraries that are assigned using the META libname engine might perform poorly

If you submit a query that joins multiple tables from a library that is assigned using the META libname engine, the query might not be passed to the database for execution. When this occurs, the data records are retrieved from the database and the join is performed within the SAS session. Consequently, the query might take longer to execute than it would if it were passed through to the database. This is particularly true if the tables are large.
