You might receive the error Unable to insert row when you export more than 65536 rows to Microsoft Excel. This problem can occur when you replace existing worksheets; it does NOT occur when you create new worksheets.

The problem can occur because the Microsoft Access Connectivity Engine fails to clear the worksheet when it has more than 65536 rows.

To circumvent the problem, do one of the following:

• Use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) to drop the table programmatically, as shown in the following example. This example uses the sheet named SHEET1, but you can use any worksheet.
  filename cmds dde 'excel|system'; data _null_; file cmds; put '[workbook.delete("sheet1")]'; run; quit;
• Manually delete the sheet in Excel.
• Replace the entire workbook. You can replace the workbook by using the NEWFILE=YES option in the EXPORT procedure.
