Problem Note 43984: The Text Import node reports "ERROR: xcrawl.exe failed: See reason above" and XCRAWL.EXE continues to run on the server
You can use the Text Import node in SAS® Text Miner to crawl the Web. When crawling the Web, the Text Import node starts a server process called XCRAWL.EXE. If you want to manually stop the Text Import node before it finishes, you can press the Stop Run icon. However, pressing the Stop Run icon does not stop the XCRAWL.EXE process on the server.
If you try to start the Text Import node again, this error appears:
A problem has been encountered on the server.
The log from the Text Import node contains errors similar to these:
ERROR: File is in use, <file name>
WARNING: Could not delete <file name> file.
ERROR: File is in use, <file name>.
WARNING: The data set WORK._NAMES may be incomplete. When this step was stopped
there were 0 observations and 3 variables.
WARNING: Could not delete <file name> file.
ERROR: xcrawl.exe failed: See reason above.
To work around the problem, you need to manually stop the XCRAWL.EXE process on the server. After you stop that process, you can start the Text Import node again.
