Installation Note 43885: For a sub-capacity license on AIX, an error occurs if the Maximum Virtual CPUs setting on the LPAR is higher than allowed
If you have a sub-capacity license for SAS® on AIX
and the number of CPUs is higher than the maximum allowed,
the following error is written to the SAS log:
ERROR: The SAS System is executing on a processor (CPU) whose model name,
model number, and serial number are not included in the setinit data
used to initialize the SAS System library in use. This is permitted
if this processor is a designated backup processor for a licensed CPU.
For a sub-capacity license on AIX, the Maximum Virtual CPUs setting on the
LPAR must be set to a value no larger than the value specified in the SERIAL
field of the sub-capacity license file.
You can use the !SASROOT/utilities/bin/systeminfo command
to determine the setting for Maximum Virtual CPUs.
If your release of SAS is prior to SAS 9.2, you can download the systeminfo tool
for AIX from the FTP download
site, as documented in
Installation Note 40996.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
An error is generated and the installation fails if the Maximum Virtual CPUs setting on the LPAR exceeds the maximum specified in the SID file. You will also see this error if you apply a sub-capacity license file after installation.
