Problem Note 43848: The FORMCHAR= setting in the configuration file is incorrect for some National Language Support languages in SAS® 9.3
The definition of the FORMCHAR= system option is wrong for the following National Language Support (NLS) configuration files: 1D, AR, HU, IW, JA, KO, NL, NO, PB, PL, RU, TR, U8, ZH, ZT
As a result, you might get incorrect formatting. For example, extra zeros (000000) might appear in the output.
To fix the problem, do the following:
- Go to C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.3\nls.

- Open the language folder for your SAS language. For example, for Japanese, open the ja folder.

- Using Notepad, open the sasv9.cfg file and locate this section:
/* This is the ANSI character set (for SAS Monospace font and ANSI Sasfont) */
-FORMCHAR '7c2d2d2d2d7c2b7c2d2d2d2b307c2d2f5c3c3e2a'x

- Change the 30 to 3d.

- Save and close the file.
