Problem Note 43143: Invalid XML files are generated with ODS XML when special characters are included in a variable label
When using the ODS XML destination to generate XML files, the files are created incorrectly when variable labels contain special characters such as those within the following parentheses ( "'<> & ). These special characters should be encoded into the valid entities; however, they are passed to the XML file as they are.
The example code below demonstrates the incorrect creation of the file.
ods xml file="c:\temp.xml";
proc print data=sashelp.class label;
label age='<test>';
run;
ods xml close;
