Usage Note 43136: Using the SQL Pass-Through facility for OLAP to test queries against a cube on a SAS® OLAP Server
Overview
The SQL Pass-Through facility for OLAP enables you to connect to a SAS OLAP server and execute queries against OLAP data within the PROC SQL environment. PROC SQL establishes a connection to the OLAP server by using the PROC SQL CONNECT statement.
Syntax
Using the following SQL Pass-Through syntax, you can specify the parameters to connect to your SAS OLAP Server and cube name in order to test the connection and access to the cube. Replace the macro values in the code with the correct information for your environment.
/* The machine name or IP address for the SAS OLAP server */
%let host=server.domain.com;
/* The port number for the SAS OLAP server */
%let port=5451;
/* A User ID with access to the cube */
%let user=sasdemo;
/* The User's password */
%let pass=sasdemo1;
/* The OLAP cube name */
%let cube=Example;
proc sql;
connect to olap (host="&host" port=&port
user="&user" pass="&pass");
select * from connection to olap
(
select [Measures].defaultmember on columns from [&cube]
);
disconnect from olap;
quit;
|
MDX variation
Similarly, if you want to test a specific MDX query against your cube, you can substitute the inner SELECT clause above with any valid MDX expression for your cube.
