Usage Note 43016: Using file extensions native to Microsoft Excel 2007 and beyond with ODS will not allow the file to be opened in Excel
Using file extensions native to Microsoft Excel 2007 and beyond will not allow the file to be opened in Excel if the file is generated with one of the ODS destinations. Extensions that are native to Excel beginning with Excel 2007 such as .XLSX will result in the dialog box below, which will not allow the file to be opened.
This is a result of a new security feature in Microsoft Excel 2007 which matches the output to the extension.
