Problem Note 42937: The SAS® Metadata Server fails to start after you configure the logging of XML information in the SAS Metadata Server log

After you follow instructions to configure the logging of XML information in the SAS Metadata Server log, the SAS Metadata Server fails to start and the following message appears in the Metadata Server log:
Note: The configuration instructions are in error. The SAS® 9.2 Intelligence Platform: System Administration Guide, Second Edition instructs the administrator to add the following line to the Metadata Server's sasv9_usermods.cfg file:
However, if you add the option above to the Metadata Server's sasv9_usermods.cfg file you will replace the complete option value that is specified in the Metadata Server's sasv9.cfg file. This should NOT be done. Instead, you should add the values listed above to the existing option value.
To set the value properly, follow the following steps:
- Copy the complete objectserverparms string from the Metadata Server's sasv9.cfg file
- Paste the complete objectserverparms string into the Metadata Server's sasv9_usermods.cfg file.
- Edit the objectserverparms value that is contained within the quotes so that it contains the jnlStrMax and jnlLineMax values.
After you paste and edit the option within the sasv9_usermods.cfg file, the complete option should have the appearance of the example below:
