Problem Note 42301: The PROC SQL LIKE operator exhausts memory when it is used with a DBCS version of SAS®

Using the PROC SQL LIKE operator in a DBCS version of SAS 9.2 can exhaust memory.

Joining tables with PROC SQL and using the LIKE operator to specify the join condition can cause the query to terminate with the following note and warning: 

NOTE: The SAS System stopped processing this step because of errors.

WARNING: The data set  may be incomplete.  When this
step was stopped there were XXXX observations and YYYY variables.

WARNING: Data set  was not replaced because this step 
was stopped.

No error message is produced.
