Beginning with version 4.3, you can create custom filters when opening information maps in SAS Enterprise Guide and the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office. This usage note provides some guidelines for working with custom filters.

• This feature requires the third maintenance release for SAS 9.2 (TS2M3) or later. If you are running the second maintenance release for SAS 9.2 (TS2M2), then you will see a message box with the required release information when you click the custom filter button.
• When filtering on dates, datetimes, and timestamps, the value that you enter is automatically converted into a SAS date constant. The date constant (for example, '30Jun2010'd) appears immediately below the Enter a value box. Because of this automatic conversion, you should not enter the value as a date constant.

Note: If you are using release 4.3, then you must apply the hot fix from SAS Note 42043 in order to filter for missing dates, datetimes, and timestamps.

• The available operators vary, depending on your release. Release 7.1 includes the following operators: =, <, >, <=, >=, IS MISSING, LIKE, and CONTAINS.

Note: If you are using release 4.3, then you must apply the hot fix from SAS Note 42043 in order to use the operators LIKE and CONTAINS. If you do not have the hot fix applied, you must create pattern-matching filters in SAS^® Information Map Studio.

• If you are using release 4.3, then you must apply the hot fix from SAS Note 42043 in order to modify a custom filter. If you do not have the hot fix applied, you must delete the existing filter and create a new one.
• To delete a filter, select it, and then click the left arrow button.
• Custom filters are available only in your current session. These filters are not saved with the information map.
• The filters are defined using the FILTER= data set option for the Information Map Libname Engine. For information about the FILTER= option, see the Base SAS^® Guide to Information Maps for your release of SAS.

Following is a known issue in release 4.3.

• If the filtered data item has blank spaces in its name (for example, Number Of Stores), the filter fails with an error similar to the following. To download the hot fix for this issue, see SAS Note 42041.
