Usage Note 42905: The SAS Object Spawner invocation options "dnsmatch" and "hostknownby" should not be specified together
You should not specify the SAS Object Spawner invocation options dnsmatch and hostknownby together. These two options provide slightly different functionality. If both options are specified, then only the first specified option is honored.
The dnsmatch option specifies a DNS alias that is accepted by the SAS Object Spawner as a match for the local machine name. In addition, the SAS Object Spawner replaces the dnsmatch value with the local machine name (which is obtained from TCP) in its list of servers. This option is used by default in SAS® 9.2.
The hostknownby option specifies a DNS alias that is accepted by the SAS Object Spawner as a match for the local machine name. You might need to use this option under the following circumstances:
- Your client machines are known to your server machine by a different machine name and IP address.
- Your server machine has multiple IP addresses.
The hostknownby option enables load balancing to return a specific host name, instead of the host name that TCP provides to the SAS Object Spawner. The value that is specified for this option is the host name known to clients.
In SAS® 9.13, if you specify the hostknownby option, then you should also specify the lbusehostname option. In SAS 9.2, the lbusehostname option is not needed because load balancing uses host names rather than IP addresses.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
The SAS Object Spawner invocation options
dnsmatch and
hostknowby should not be specified together. These two options provide different functionality and they are not compatible.
