Problem Note 42629: Authentication error might appear when opening an information map in SAS® Enterprise Guide® or the SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office
Typically, a group login is used to make a shared external account available to all members of the group. In the most common scenario, a group login is used to provide access to a third-party database server. A group login contains a SAS copy of the user ID and password for a shared account.
Currently, you cannot use a group login to open an information map in SAS Enterprise Guide or the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office. If you use a group login, you will see the following error:
[ com.sas.services.user.NonPersonAuthenticationException: Only a Person can be
used to authenticate a platform user. ]
ERROR: The connection to the SAS Metadata Repository failed.
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.
This error appears because both products use the SAS Information Maps LIBNAME engine in order to query information maps, and that engine does not support using group logins.
Note: Group logins are also not supported for use with PROC INFOMAPS or SAS® Web Report Studio.
