Usage Note 42604: Using the ODS Graphics Designer with SAS® Enterprise Guide® 4.3
The ODS Graphics Designer is an interactive graphical application that you can use to design and create custom graphs.
If you have SAS® Enterprise Guide 4.3 and SAS/GRAPH® for the third maintenance release of SAS® 9.2 (TS2M3) installed on the same machine, you can invoke the ODS Graphics Designer from SAS Enterprise Guide.
The Download tab contains two files:
- README contains the instructions on how to enable the ODS Graphics Designer from SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3.
- DLL is the DLL file referenced in the README file.
After the DLL file (fusion_42604_2_sas.dll) has been downloaded, rename the file to
SAS.Tasks.SGDesigner.dll.
The ODS Graphics Designer currently only works with permanent data sets that are available when the SAS Enterprise Guide session is started. In order for your data sets to be available when you open the ODS Graphics Designer, you need to do the following:
-
Find the SASV9.CFG file. This file is located in the !SASROOT\nls\en directory, where !SASROOT is your default SAS installation directory.
-
Locate the -SASUSER command. This statement should look something like this if you are running SAS on the PC:
-SASUSER "?CSIDL_PERSONAL\My SAS Files\9.3"
-
Add the directory there the permanent data sets are located in double quotes and enclose both of the directories in parenthesis. For example:
-SASUSER ("?CSIDL_PERSONAL\My SAS Files\9.3" "c:\temp")
where C:\temp is the folder that contains the permanent data sets.
-
Invoke SAS Enterprise Guide.
-
The permanent data sets should be populated in the SASUSER directory when the ODS Graphics Designer is invoked.
