Problem Note 42181: Copy and paste requires a long time to complete in a SAS® Financial Management Data-Entry Table
If you are trying to copy and paste data into a SAS Financial Management Data-Entry Table and the process appears to require a long amount of time to complete, you should check the frequency of the Data-Entry Table you are trying to paste values into and also the frequency if the source data is also coming from a SAS Financial Management report or form.
This is because values are stored as Period Activity (PA) frequency in the SAS Financial Management database. So, if the source area data is anything other than PA frequency, it must first be converted to PA; if the target area data is anything other than PA frequency, it must then be converted from PA. Each of these steps increases the amount of time required to complete the copy and paste process.
If your source data is displayed as non-PA frequency (for example, PTD or YTD), your process will complete faster if you change the display to PA and then do your copy. If your target range is to be displayed as non-PA frequency, your process will complete faster if you change the display to PA, paste your values, and then change the frequency of the displayed data, as appropriate.
