Problem Note 41510: Installation fails if hostname does not match SID file or if hostname is longer than 11 characters on UNIX platforms

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If you are installing SAS® in a UNIX environment using a subcapacity license, the installation will fail if the value for the hostname does not match the value in the SAS Installation Data (SID) file, or if the value for the hostname is longer than 11 characters.

The error will be similar to the following:

   Applying SAS Installation Data
   Please wait...

   ERROR:
An error occurred during the SAS Installation Data authorization process.
Please check the following log files for errors:
      /sas/sas92home/SASFoundation/9.2/install/admin/sas/setinit.log_nnnnnn.001

   ERROR:
SAS Setup cannot continue the installation to the following directory
due to an error in SAS Installation Data processing:

      /sas/sas92home/SASFoundation/9.2

The first error references a setinit.log_nnnnnn.001 file. If that log file contains a message similar to the following, then the problem is that the value for hostname does not match the value in the SAS Installation Data file, or that the value for hostname is longer than 11 characters:

ERROR: The SAS System is executing on a processor (CPU) whose model name,
model number, and serial number are not included in the setinit data
used to initialize the SAS System library in use. This is permitted if
this processor is a designated backup processor for a licensed CPU.
For this site, the SAS system is licensed for the following CPU serial numbers:

   Model *** Serial Number +4
ERROR: The requested node name HOSTNAME does not match the actual node name
   HOSTNAMEnnnnnnnn.

Select the Hot Fix tab in this Note to access a hot fix for UNIX operating environments.
Note that in order to apply this hot fix, you must first obtain a temporary (3-5 days) unrestricted license file from your SAS Contracts representative, which will allow you to complete the installation. Once you have completed the installation and applied the hot fix, apply the subcapacity license file.

A similiar error can occur in Microsoft Windows operating environments.
For details, see Installation Note 41121.
