Problem Note 41478: Tracked links do not redirect correctly if the tracking variable contains an ampersand and an Internal Server Error occurs
SAS® Digital Marketing embeds variable values into tracked link URLs in order to pass those values back to the tracking servlet. Passing enables you to ascertain whether the link is selected by a particular e-mail recipient. However, if a variable value contains an ampersand (&), such as in user&name@domain.com, then the ampersand is interpreted as a control character in the URL. The tracked link fails to connect and you receive the following error:
HTTP 500 Internal Server Error
This behavior occurs even if obfuscation of the tracked link is activated.
The only workaround is to screen the data that is populating the tracked link variables and ensure that the data does not contain any ampersands.
