The SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office does not display the SAS menu in Microsoft Office 2003 programs that are running in a Windows 7 x64 operating environment. This issue also might occur in other Windows x64 operating environments, such as Windows Server 2008 R2.
The problem occurs because of the way that the Wow6432Node registry entry, Microsoft Office 2003, and the SAS Add-In 4.3 for Microsoft Office work together. The Microsoft Office program opens, but the SAS menu does not display in the program.
The issue can be resolved by first applying the hot fix and subsequently using the reg file from the Downloads tab to correct the registry. Here are the steps to take.
The registry import needs to be done for each user who has already tried using Office and does not have a SAS menu.
The SAS menu should display in the program.
If the SAS menu still does not appear, then you need to add the COM Add-ins menu and select SAS. To add the COM Add-ins menu, perform the following steps:
Note: The following steps can also be performed in Word and PowerPoint.
The Customize dialog box appears.
Caution: Always back up your registry before you make any changes to it. Changes to the Microsoft Windows registry can render your system unusable and require that you reinstall your operating system. SAS is not responsible when you edit the Windows registry. For more information about backing up your registry, see Windows Help or the Microsoft Web site.
