If the text within a single cell spans more than one RTF page, the output will appear truncated when the RTF file is opened in Microsoft Word. Examining the RTF file through a text editor shows that the text is contained in the file in its entirety, but Microsoft Word displays only the first page of the cell.

In SAS^® 9.4M4 (TS1M4), the NOTRKEEP option in the ODS RTF statement will prevent the problem.

To circumvent the problem prior to SAS 9.4M4, do one of the following:

1. Use the MSOFFICE2K tagset to create the RTF output as illustrated below.
   ods tagsets.msoffice2k file="file.rtf"; /* Place the code to create the table here */ ods tagsets.msoffice2k close;
2. Use the DATA step to make multiple observations out of the long text string's value as demonstrated in Sample 24672.
