Usage Note 41326: How do I change the default timeout value for the SAS® Information Delivery Portal?

DetailsAboutRate It

When using the SAS Information Delivery Portal, you will notice that you will be logged off after a certain period of inactivity. The default timeout value is 30 minutes.

To change this timeout setting:

  • On your mid-tier server, please access:

For SAS Financial Management release 4.x:
    <drive>:\bea\user_projects\domains\SASSolutions\applications\Portal.war\WEB-INF\web.xml

For SAS Financial Management release 5.x:
    <drive>:\SAS\Config\Lev1Web\Staging\exploded\sas.portal4.x.ear\sas.portal.war\WEB-INF\web.xml

and open the file in a standard text editor.
  • Search the file for the string "<session-timeout>". You will likely see the default value of 30 (minutes).
  • Update this to your desired timeout value (in minutes), then save and close the <web.xml> file.
  • You should be able to simply restart the SAS Information Delivery Portal to have the new timeout value take effect.
Please note that the above does not 'permanently' change the timeout values for the SAS Information Delivery Portal. To do that, you will need to re-deploy the web application. For additional information, please refer to the section on "Modifying a Session Time-out Interval" in the SAS 9.2 Intelligence Platform: Web Application Administration Guide.

To change the timeout values for SAS Solutions Services portlets or tasks, such as the Document Manager or the Forms Manager, please refer to SAS Note 41750.
