Problem Note 41220: Mixed-case passwords that are submitted to a SASĀ® server in a z/OS operating environment return a security verification failure to the client
If the security product that is installed at your site has mixed-case password support, and you submit a mixed-case password to a SAS server at the time of connection, SAS might return a security verification failure to the client. Messages similar to the following appear in your SAS log (note that this example is for a SAS/SHARE® server):
ERROR: Attempt to connect to server node.server-ID failed.
ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request failure has occurred.
ERROR: Communication request rejected by partner: security verification failure.
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.
The connection fails because SAS converts the password specified by the user to upper-case, so it does not match what the system is expecting.
There is currently no known circumvention for this error other than not using lower-case letters in your passwords.
