Problem Note 41186: An error and a null-pointer exception might occur when you invoke SAS® Web Report Studio

You might receive the following browser error when you invoke SAS Web Report Studio:

This page cannot be displayed

If you see this error, check the application-server log for the following message:

java.lang.NullPointerException
        at org.jgroups.blocks.PullPushAdapter.stop(PullPushAdapter.java:103)
        at org.jgroups.blocks.ReplicatedTree.stop(ReplicatedTree.java:198)
        at com.sas.svcs.cluster.SimpleCache.stop(SimpleCache.java:179)

This error is an indication that you might have encountered a thread-synchronization problem. This timing issue is rare and only occurs within a very narrow window. It is not specific to any Web application server. The problem occurs in code that is used for multicasting communication that stops a previously instantiated JGroups cache.

If the thread-synchronization problem occurs, the SAS Logon Manager and, subsequently, SAS Web Report Studio will not start.
