Usage Note 41034: "Error: Connection to Oracle not found" when using SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Oracle on Windows 7 machines
When attempting to use SAS/ACCESS Interface to Oracle on a Windows 7 machine, you can get the following error:
Error: The Oracle engine can not be found. Connection to Oracle
engine not found or installed at your site.
The problem occurs when the User Account Control Settings in Windows 7 does not allow the customer to run the Oracle client. You can test with SQL*Plus to see whether you can run the Oracle client.
To resolve the issue do one of the following:
- Right-click on the SAS icon and select Run as Administrator when starting SAS.
- Change your User Account Control settings to be able to run the Oracle client itself.

fixed.
"Connection to Oracle not found" error occurs when using SAS/ACCESS Interface to Oracle on a Windows 7 machine. The problem occurs when the user is not an administrator on the machine or cannot run the SAS/ACCESS Interface to Oracle client.
