Problem Note 40359: You can use the CATALOG access method in the FILENAME statement to reuse an open fileref in SAS® 9.1.3

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

In SAS 9.1.3, you can use the CATALOG access method to reuse an open fileref, as shown in the following example:

libname xx 'c:\sas catalogs';
filename mt catalog 'xx.yyy.saspgm.source';
%include mt;

The code in the saspgm.source catalog entry contains a FILENAME statement that specifies the mt fileref, which is already open. However, filerefs should not be reused.

Applying Hot fix E9BC43 and any hot fix bundles that include E9BC43 close this loophole. This fix restricts the CATALOG access method from reusing filerefs, which makes this method consistent with the behavior of other FILENAME engines.
