Problem Note 40298: Microsoft Access text fields might contain trailing blanks when you use the ACCESSCS engine with SAS® 9.2 and UTF-8 encoding
Text fields in Microsoft Access might contain extra trailing spaces when you export SAS data using the ACCESSCS engine. The problem occurs when you use a UTF-8 version of SAS. The extra spaces are required for double-byte characters such as those that occur in Asian languages (for example, Japanese, Chinese, or Korean).
