Usage Note 40785: SAS Web Infrastructure Platform is required to use cascading prompts with SAS® Information Maps
In general, you do not need a middle-tier environment in order to open information maps in SAS® Enteprise Guide® and the SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office; however, there are some limitations.
Specifically, in order to use cascading prompts, you must have installed and configured the SAS Web Infrastructure Platform. The SAS Web Infrastructure Platform includes the Prompting Web Service, which is required in order to populate dynamic prompts that are based on information maps.
As a workaround, you can define the cascading prompts in a stored process and associate the stored process with the information map. For more information about associating a stored process with an information map, see SAS Note 39432.
For more information about the SAS Web Infrastructure Platform, see SAS Web Infrastructure Platform.
Note: If you have dynamic prompts that are not cascading, you can use a relational table registered in metadata as the data source for the prompt. In that case, a middle-tier is not required.
