Problem Note 40749: The ability to limit the number of prompt values that can be selected might be ignored in SAS® Web Report Studio
In SAS® Information Studio, you can set a Maximum value count for dynamically populated, multi-selection prompts. This option enables you to limit the number of values that a SAS Web Report Studio user can select at one time for a prompt. It also prevents users from selecting all available values.
Sometimes, however, you are able to use the double arrow button to select all values, even if selecting all values exceeds the maximum. Despite this behavior, SAS Web Report Studio should still prevent you from using the single arrow button to select more than the maximum number.
If you do select more values than the maximum number and you attempt to view the report, the application returns an error message stating that your selections exceed the maximum limit and cannot be processed. Depending on how many values are in the prompt list, the action of selecting all values and then submitting all values might take several minutes.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue. After you install the hot fix, the ability to move all values to the selected box will work as follows:
- If the number of values in the Available box is greater than 99, then you cannot move all values.
- If the number of values in the Available box is less than 99 and the Maximum value count setting is greater than the number of available values, then you can move all values.
- If the number of values in the Available box is less than 99 and Maximum value count setting is less than the number of available values, then you cannot move all values.
