Usage Note 40590: The HTTP procedure fails to delete temporary files
THe HTTP procedure does not delete its temporary files. PROC HTTP creates temporary files during processing. However, one of these temporary files remains after the procedure completes. A new file remains each time PROC HTTP runs.
Identifying the File
The files are named sasNNNNNdat, where NNNNN is a 4-digit or 5-digit number. Note that the filename is all one word with no extension.
The files are created in the temporary directory are defined for your user and operating-system environment. For example in Windows environments, that directory resides typically in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings\Temp\
Deleting the Files
These files are all zero-length files; therefore, they do not iuse significant space on the hard drive. However, they do clutter temporary directory. In addition, they eventually impact access to the directory and performance of any application that attempts to use this directory.
The SAS process that runs PROC HTTP keeps these files locked. To delete the remaining files, you must stop all SAS sessions.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
