Problem Note 40528: Slow performance of DBCS SASĀ® when UPCASE() function is used
Performance problems with DBCS (Asian language) SAS will be
seen in the UNIX environment if the UPCASE() function is used.
The UPCASE() function has been internationalized, and can
be used with strings containing DBCS characters.
However, if a string has many character-set boundaries,
performance degrades.
