After logging on to SAS^® Merchandise Intelligence, you might notice that the Welcome to SAS^® Merchandise Intelligence window contains no product links. The only links that might be present are the following under the General heading:

Continue work from where you were last
Access Help to learn how to user the product

This issue is generally due to a failed license check. Either there are no SAS^® Merchandise Intelligence products licensed (check for expired software licenses) or there was an issue with the license check that occurs at SAS^® Merchandise Intelligence mid-tier initialization. In the latter case, you might see the following error messages in your mid-tier log:

2010-06-09 03:46:38,435 [WrapperSimpleAppMain] ERROR com.sas.solutions.di.server - Error running stored process DICheckSI [] - server [ () 0 [0] MIMain - Logical Stored Process Server] - A connection could not be obtained.
2010-06-09 03:46:38,435 [WrapperSimpleAppMain] ERROR com.sas.solutions.di.server - com.sas.services.storedprocess.ExecutionException: A connection could not be obtained.

The above error might occur when a stored process request (in this case, DICheckSI) is passed to a stored process server before the stored process server is actually fully initialized. Please refer to Problem Note 20769 for additional details.

Although simply restarting the SAS^® Merchandise Intelligence mid-tier (only) a second time will resolve the issue (because the stored process server is initialized and ready for requests by this time), the following work-around is recommended:

Open the Properties of the MIMain - Stored Process Server. ► On the Options Tab, select Advanced Options. ► On the Load Balancing Properties tab, enter 2 in the Start Size field. Save changes and exit.

The next time you restart SAS^® Merchandise Intelligence (metadata server, object spawner, and mid-tier), the issue should be resolved.
