Problem Note 39808: Searching returns no results if SAS Folders is the starting location in SAS® Web Report Studio

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

SAS Web Report Studio enables you to search by the name, description, and keywords for a report or folder in the Open Report dialog box or Manage Files window. However, when SAS Folders is selected as both the Search where value and the Location, then searching fails with the following message:

Search is complete. There are no results to display.

You can search SAS Folders by leaving the Search where value as SAS Folders, but changing the Location to any folder other than SAS Folders. However, this workaround only returns results once. If you click Search again, no results are returned. In addition, if you have, for example, thousands of reports in your SAS Folders tree, then your metadata server might stop responding.

As a best practice, do not select SAS Folders as the Search where value.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue. After the hot fix is applied, matching results—if any exist— are returned even when SAS Folders is selected as both the Search where value and the Location.

Note: The starting point for the search is based on the Search where value. So, if your Search where value is a higher level than the Location, your results might include matches outside of the specified location. As a best practice, your Location should match your Search where value.
