Problem Note 39701: Geo-prods from deleted plans are incorrectly added to the target plan when you choose to leave the geo-prods in their existing completed plan
In SAS® Markdown Optimization, geo-prods that previously existed in active plans and are deleted will erroneously be added to the target plan when you choose to leave the geo-prods in their existing completed plans.
The problem can be reproduced by following the steps below:
- A completed plan exists in the system.
- Create a new active plan with geo-prods that exist in the completed plan.
- Select the option Leave the product in the existing plan when the user interface prompts you with Leave the product in the existing plan or Move it to a new plan.
- The new active plan gets created successfully. However, the geo-prods are added to the new plan as well.
These steps result in the geo-prod being present in two plans; the existing completed plan and the newly created plan. This condition is not allowed in this release of SAS Markdown Optimization.
To circumvent this problem, you can delete the duplicate members.
To prevent the problem from occuring, you can either:
- delete all plan members prior to deleting plans
- run the purge process for the mdo_plan_member table after deleting plans and before creating new plans containing members that conflict with previous plans.
