Usage Note 39359: The UNIX SAS® authentication server appears to hang when attempting to authenticate users
When you use the UNIX SAS® authentication server, sasauth, on Solaris to authenticate users, the server might hang. It might appear to you that the SAS client application has become become unresponsive while invoking a Workspace server.
A truss run against the sasauth process will display the following:
11225 9: S_IFDOOR mode:0444 dev:361,0 ino:113 uid:0 gid:0 size:0
11226 O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE FD_CLOEXEC door to ldap_cachemgr[15514]
11227 /var/run/ldap_cache_door
If this happens, run PROC PERMTEST, as documented in SAS KB0036227, then attempt to authenticate the same user from the SAS client application.
If PROC PERMTEST hangs, the problem is most likely a problem with the Solaris name service cache daemon, nscd. To restore authentication functioning, recycle the nscd daemon.
Note that recycling the nscd daemon is only a temporary solution. For a permanent fix, apply Solaris patch 142909-17. For additional information about the patch, please contact Oracle Corporation.
