Usage Note 39122: Messages that you might encounter when hot fixes cannot be installed with the Maintenance Installation Tool
The Maintenance Install Tool (MIT) searchs the SAS Deployment Registry in
<SASHOME>/deploymntreg to verify that the product and release for which the hot fix is intended is installed.
This note documents the various messages that may be encountered when the
- product for which the hot fix is intended is not installed
- product release number or maintenance number for which the hot fix is intended is not installed
Note: In order to apply hot fixes, the initial product installation must be performed using the SAS Deployment Wizard. Installations performed outside of the SAS Deployment Wizard are not supported.
Message 1
Installation Halted.
The installation package could not be initialized for the following reason:
Failure creating backup directory at {0}.
Installation could not be completed. No changes have been made to your system. More information may be found in the Installation Log:

Message 2
The maintenance package you are trying to install requires maintenance version 1, which could not be located on your computer.
Message 3
Either this package is not applicable for the current platform, or this product cannot be found on your system, so the updates contained in this bundle will not be installed.
Follow the instructions in Usage Note 35968 for more information on how to determine the products and product releases that are installed on your system.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
Attempting to apply a hot fix to a software product that is not installed results in one of several messages being displayed in the MIT.
