Problem Note 38906: The SAS® metadata engine LIBNAME statement fails to interpret access password specification for the Remote Engine Library server

The SAS metadata LIBNAME statement can be used to assign a library in metadata as a SAS/SHARE® Remote Engine Library with the SAPW= option in effect. However, in some instances, the LIBNAME statement fails and the following error occurs:

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
ERROR 23-7: Invalid value for the SAPW option.
You can either work around this problem or download a hot fix.
To work around the problem, do the following:
- Stop the SAS/SHARE server.
- Remove the UAPW= option from the SERVER procedure source, which is located under the SAS BI installation directory:
Lev1\ShareServer\shareserver.sas
- In SAS® Management Console, grant or deny access to the appropriate groups to control access to the server object. In the Properties window of the SAS/SHARE server, click the Authorization tab to grant or deny access for the appropriate groups.
- Remove the SAPW= option from the remote library definition in metadata.
- Restart the SAS/SHARE server.
