Usage Note 38899: Removing the Search and Options menus in SAS® Information Delivery Portal 4.2 and later

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

In SAS Information Delivery Portal 2.0, you could remove the Search and Options menus by modifying the banner.html file in a custom theme. In SAS Information Delivery Portal 4.2, you cannot remove these menus by making theme changes. The ability to remove these menus was added back in the first maintenance release for SAS Information Delivery Portal 4.2 (4.2 M1) with the hot fix from the Hot Fix tab in this note applied. SAS Information Delivery Portal 4.2 M2 and later include this ability without the need for the hot fix.

To disable the Customize (4.3 and later), Options, or Search menu for users who are not content administrators or Portal administrators, follow these directions:

  1. Log on to SAS® Management Console as the administrative user. For example, use sasadm@saspw.
  2. On the Plug-ins tab, expand Application ManagementConfiguration Manager.
  3. Right-click on Information Delivery Portal 4.x, and then select Properties.
  4. In the Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab and enter the following properties and associated values.

    Property Name Value Description
menubar.show.customize false Set this to false to remove the Customize menu for non-administrative users. If the property is not set, or a value other than false is used, the Customize menu will display.

Note: This option is valid only with SAS Information Delivery Portal 4.3 and later. This menu is not used in Portal 4.2.

menubar.show.options false Set this to false to remove the Options menu for non-administrative users. If the property is not set, or a value other than false is used, the Options menu will display.
menubar.show.search false Set this to false to remove the Search menu for non-administrative users. If the property is not set, or a value other than false is used, the Search menu will display.

  5. Restart your Web application server.
