Usage Note 38784: A return code 4 might occur if you use the IEBCOPY utility with the COPYMOD command for the SASĀ® 9.2 link pack area (LPA) eligible modules
In SAS® 9.2, the size of the bundled module SABXSPL might cause a return code of 4 from the COPYMOD command in the system utility IEBCOPY. The SYSPRINT file contains the message:
IEB1141W SABXSPL IS NOT A LOAD MODULE. RAN OFF END OF RLD TABLE
In this situation, IEBCOPY reverts to a COPY operation, which completes successfully. However, the COPY operation does not reblock the module. Therefore, another message in the SYSPRINT file states that the module was not reblocked:
IEB19EI MEMBER SABXSPL COPIED AS IS WITHOUT REBLOCKING, NOT A LOAD MODULE. *** MEMBER WAS NOT REBLOCKED.
For the other members, a message appears in the SYSPRINT file that states the following:
IEB19AI MEMBER SASXAL COPIED AND REBLOCKED.
This warning message from the IEBCOPY utility is misleading. The SABXSPL module is a valid load module. Tests indicate that the module has not been corrupted during the COPY operation.
The message appears because the default work area that IEBCOPY uses for COPYMOD is 120K. The size of this work area is not sufficient for the size of the SABXSPL module. IBM's documentation suggests that you adjust the size of the COPYMOD work area to prevent an IEB1133E error message. Tests performed at SAS Institute have not caused this error message to reappear.
To adjust the COPYMOD work area size for the IEBCOPY utility, set the CMWA parameter on the EXEC card for the IEBCOPY step, according to the following example:
//COPYLPA EXEC PGM=IEBCOPY,PARM='CMWA=256K'

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
In SAS 9.2 the size of the bundled module SABXSPL will cause IEBCOPY COPYMOD to issue a warning message.
IEB1141W SABXSPL IS NOT A LOAD MODULE. RAN OFF END OF RLD TABLE
The module is successfully copied, however, no reblocking is performed as IEBCOPY reverts to a COPY for the module.
