Usage Note 38215: SAS® Customer Intelligence 5.3 clients require you to manually install a j2ee.jar file
When you install SAS Customer Intelligence 5.3 client applications, you need to also manually download and install a j2ee.jar file. Install the j2ee.jar file regardless of the Web application server that your system is using, such as IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic, or JBoss.
Obtain the JAR file
To obtain the j2ee.jar file:
- Go to J2EE 1.4 Downloads.
- Click the Download button next to Get the J2EE 1.4 SDK.
- Select the platform, agree to the SLA, and click Continue.
- On the next page, download and run
j2eesdk-1_4_03-windows.exe/bin
to launch the SDK installer.
- Follow the instructions in the installer, which include delivering the Sun Application Server.
Specify a location or create a new directory for the downloaded file. For example, you could specify
C:\j2sdk.
- After the installation completes, you can store the j2ee.jar file in that location.
For example, if you specified the location C:\j2sdk,
locate the j2ee.jar file in C:\j2sdk\lib.
Install the new JAR file
To install the j2ee.jar file on the client system, perform the following actions on
every system where you have installed one or more of these solutions: SAS® Customer Intelligence Studio, the SAS Customer Intelligence plug-ins for
SAS® Management Console, SAS® Marketing Automation Launcher, SAS Customer Intelligence Utilities, and SAS Customer Intelligence Integration Utilities.
- Stop any client applications that are installed. (See the list of applications above.)
Stopping the applications will prevent the occurrence of overlay failures because
the JAR file is open.
- Locate the SAS installation directory. The default directory is usually
C:\Program Files\SAS in Windows operating environments.
If your system is in a UNIX operating environment, ask your administrator for the location of the SAS installation directory.
- From your installation directory, go to the directory:
SASVersionedJarRepository\9.2\eclipse\plugins\J2SDKEE_1.4.1.0_SAS_version-number
- The version number is not important unless you find more than one entry for
J2SDKEE.
If there are multiple entries, contact SAS Technical Support for assistance.
- The relative path is similar on UNIX systems.
- Replace the j2ee.jar file in the directory above with the j2ee.jar file that you downloaded as directed
in Obtain the JAR file.
