Problem Note 38126: A SAS® Forecast Studio task in SAS® Add-In for Microsoft Office fails to produce a plot, and shows an insufficient authorization to access error

If you are using SAS® Enterprise Guide, or Microsoft Excel, and if you try to produce a plot using a SAS Forecast Studio task in SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office, then the plot might fail to appear, and the following error message is generated:
ERROR: Insufficient authorization to access C:\SAS\Config\Lev1\SASApp\ForecastsPlot.png
Microsoft Excel generates the error in a message window. SAS Enterprise Guide generates the error in the SAS log.
The problem occurs because you do not have authorization to access the created plot file. The task is attempting to write a temporary plot file to the server's configuration directory. The default directory is SASAPP, and in most cases you do not have permission to write to this directory.
To work around the problem after the software is installed and configured, follow these steps. The steps allow you to create new files within the server's configuration directory while keeping the existing configuration files set to their original access levels.
- On the server's configuration directory (for example, SASAPP), give all permissions (READ/WRITE/CREATE/DELETE) to all users. Set these permissions so that they are NOT inherited by any subdirectories.
- Then, reset the rights for all files and subdirectories to the original values as assigned during configuration.
